~Thoughts for Dr. Billy~

Images1_6

When you are sorrowful look again in your heart, and you shall see that in truth you are weeping for that which has been your delight.
~Kahlil Gibran

With Love and Grief I bid "adieu" to someone who has meant more to our family than I have words to convey. A  man who filled my beautiful sister's heart with joy and devotion, and who challenged her to pursue her dreams, supported her every step of the way, and was first in line to congratulate her when she realized success. How could a man with such an incredible intellect, sense of humor, and joie de vivre do anything else? Every day of their 34 year journey was nothing short of an Adventure Extradinaire. Together, they set the standard for what a relationship can and should be, for theirs was a love that could not be bent, not even under the most crushing of emotional blows. To see them together was to know "true love" not only exists, but thrives. Not even Death, the cruelest of impositions, can alter that reality.

Billy, you are loved and will be missed beyond reason, dearest of friends, mentors, confidants, and brothers. I am a better person for having spent so many rich and countless hours with you, sharing dreams, insights, and more than a few laughs. I have no doubt the next stage of your "journey" will be as fascinating as this one was, and I suspect those you encounter will love your quick wit, ready laugh, and sparkling grin every bit as much as we always did. Thank you for making Life so damn interesting, not to mention fun. xox

Anyone curious to know a bit more about my wonderful, amazing  and beloved brother-in-law can read about him HERE.

~Thought for a Birthday~

Nobody grows old merely by living a number of years. We grow old by deserting our ideals. Years may wrinkle the skin, but to give up enthusiasm wrinkles the soul.

~Thought for the End of Summer~

This is my "depressed stance". When you're depressed, it makes a lot of difference how you stand. The worst thing you can do is straighten up and hold your head high because then you'll start to feel better. If you're going to get any joy out of being depressed, you've got to stand like this.

~Thoughts for a Happier Life~

1. Be Impeccable With Your Word

Speak with integrity. Say only what you mean.Avoid using the word to speak against yourself or to gossip about others. Use the power of your word in the direction of truth and love.

2. Don't Take Anything Personally

Nothing others do is because of you. What others say and do is a projection of their own reality, their own dream. When you are immune to the opinions and actions of others, you won't be the victim of needless suffering.

3. Don't Make Assumptions

Find the courage to ask questions and to express what you really want. Communicate with others as clearly as you can to avoid misunderstanding, sadness and drama. With just this one agreement, you can completely transform your life.

4. Always Do Your Best

Your best is going to change from moment to moment; it will be different when you are healthy as opposed to sick. Under any circumstance, simply do your best, and you will avoid self-judgment, self-abuse and regret.

~The Four Agreements, Don Miguel Ruiz

Happy HAPPY Anniversary to the man I have loved and adored for 22 years, and counting. Who teaches me how to be a better person with each and every passing day, and who fills my Life with Love and more Happiness than I ever imagined possible. You are my dream come true. Can't wait to see where the next 22 years will take us, this is one long adventure, and one I hope will never end. I love you, Joel. I always have, and I always will. xox

And Happy HAPPY (belated) Anniversary to my beautiful sister and her wonderful husband, a couple I have admired, loved, and cherished for 33 years and counting. You two set the standard for "amazing relationships", and you are an inspiration to me each and EVERY day of my life. You two have always practiced what you "preached", and are the shining example of what 2 people truly in love and committed to each other can do, both in the good times, and in the bad. Where there is true love, there is hope... and you share and give both to each other every day. I love you, Terri and Bill,  more than I can ever say, and miss you more than you can possibly know. xox

Whether you think you can or think you can't -- you are right. ~ Henry Ford

~Thought for the Week~

Be patient toward all that is unsolved in your heart and try to love the questions themselves like locked rooms and like books that are written in a very foreign tongue.  Do not now seek the answers, which cannot be given you because you would not be able to live them.  And the point is, to live everything.  Live the questions now.  Perhaps you will find them gradually, without noticing it, and live along some distant day into the answer.

~Thought for the Week~

The memories of my family outings are still a source of strength to me. I remember we'd all pile into the car - I forget what kind it was - and drive and drive. I'm not sure where we'd go, but I think there were some trees there. The smell of something was strong in the air as we played whatever sport we played. I remember a bigger, older guy we called "Dad." We'd eat some stuff, or not, and then I think we went home. I guess some things never leave you.

Don't underestimate the value of Doing Nothing, of just going along, listening to all the things you can't hear, and not bothering.

~Thought for the Week~

No mirror ever became iron again; No bread ever became wheat; No ripened grape ever became sour fruit. Mature yourself and be secure from a change for the worse. Become the light.

Many thanks to my beautiful sister, who not only sent me this amazing quote -- but provides me with inspiration on a daily basis. Stay well and stay strong.
